Mary Dora Smith

Mary Dora York Smith 90, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Autumn Care of Biscoe, surrounded by her family.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Unity Grove Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jason Cheek  officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

Mary Dora was a  native of Moore County. She worked for a short period in textiles, but she enjoyed most, caring for her family and home.  Mary Dora loved baking, making hundreds of wedding and birthday cakes for the folks in the community.  She also enjoyed cooking family meals, flower gardening, quilting and sewing. Mary Dora was a daughter of the late John Clark and Pearlie Lee Maness York and was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow; sister: Jennie Mae Garner; brothers: Johnny and Jessie York

 

Mary Dora is survived by daughter: Mary Britt and husband Robert, of Star; grandchildren: Cheryl LeAnne Lucas and husband Scott, Paul Britt, Diane Britt.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Kennedy Funeral home and at other times at the home.
