Mary Darnell Flinchum, 89, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by family.

Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Camp Easter Road, where she was a member, with the Reverend Gregg Newton and Reverend Brad Marona officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM and at other times at the home of her daughter, Susan Blue.

Mary was a native of Moore County.  She worked for over 30 years as an Invoice Clerk for JP Stevens.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mary was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing family meals.  She was active in her church as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and loved to work with the Christmas programs and decorations.  Mary liked to fish, read and care for her vegetable garden. She was a daughter of the late Oliver Lee and Mary Marsh Darnell and was preceded in death by brothers: John and A E Darnell; sister: Margaret D. Richardson.

Mary is survived by son: Gerald Flinchum and wife Gail, of Thomasville;  daughters: Susan Blue and husband Charles, of Carthage, Sharon Sweat and husband Marshall, of Seven Lakes, Amy Anderson, of Pensacola, Fl; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
