Mary Hudson Southern, age 79, of Holly Springs, passed away on Sunday January 15, 2023 at Wake Medical Hospital in Cary.
Born on August 15, 1943, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late James Lawrence and Nannie Viola Beasley Hudson.
Mary worked as a waitress most of her life. She lived the majority of her life in the Winston Salem area. She had a great love for her dogs, Elvis Presley, racing and Dale Earnhardt, and the Carolina Tar Heels.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers: G.C. Hudson, Lee Hudson and Harvey Hudson.
She is survived by her sister: Doris Craven and husband Charles “Chuck” of Apex; and her beloved dog Jake; special friend: Tony Dickens; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2 PM at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage. The family will receive friends starting at 1 PM. Burial to follow at Cross Hill Cemetery.
