Mary Ruth Powers Hussey 81, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral Service will be 3:00 PM, Friday, January 11, 2013 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Reverend Tal Madison and Reverend Edwin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hussey was a native of Moore County. Ruth worked at Robbins Mill and for years on the family poultry farm with husband, Richard. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of her church, with a warm smile and kind word for everyone each Sunday. Ruth was a daughter of the late Eli and Lula Hussey Powers . She was preceded in death by her sisters: Colene Brown, Carene Yow, brothers: Randall Powers, John Earlie Powers and Robert Powers..
Ruth is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard, daughter: Donna Ward and husband David of Carthage, grandchildren: Jordan and Bryson, brother: Ralph Powers and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, NC and at other time at the home.

I have very fond memories of going by Richard and Ruth’s house after work. She always wanted me to eat something. She welcomed me in her home and treated me like a family member. She was a person who inspired others to be better because she was so special
