September 28, 1981 ~ October 11, 2019
Meredith Blaine Sweat Zerr was born September 28, 1981 in Moore County to Rodney Sweat and Janice Hardy. She graduated from Union Pines High School in 1999, and FTCC in 2002 with an AAS in Surgical Technology.
Most of her childhood was spent in or near Moore County, where her extensive family lived. Meredith loved her family with an unconditional love, and was a big kid at heart. She had a beautiful smile, a big heart, and loved to laugh.
She shared a special bond with her only niece, Emma who she nicknamed “Booger.” Watching movies over and over, and laughing at the silliest things are special memories that Emma will cherish about her “Auntie M.”
Meredith married her soulmate Edwin Zerr on May 13, 2017, and began her Army wife adventure, which she embraced and cherished. Edwin and Meredith added to their loving home, a 4 legged “child” named Ellie.
Edwin and Meredith were stationed in San Antonio for 15 months while Edwin earned his nursing degree with the US Army. While there, they attended Pearl Street Church, and were baptized on August 26, 2018. In June of this year, the Army relocated them to Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington. Meredith raved about the beautiful Washington state landscape and the cooler climate.
Meredith is survived by her husband, Edwin Zerr, her loving pet, Ellie, of Tacoma; her parents Rodney Sweat and Janice Hardy, of Carthage; sister Jessica Sweat Mann and niece Emma Mann, of Whitsett; and step-mother, Carol Holton, step-brother, James Lunaas, step-sister Megan Lunaas, and many, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church of Pinehurst on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with internment immediately thereafter at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage, NC. Visitation will be at the home of Rodney Sweat, 1725 Dowd Road, on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Meredith may be made to: Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, National Headquarters, ATTN: Financial Operations, 733 Third Avenue, Ste. 510, New York, NY 10017
The family has entrusted services to Fry Pickett Funeral Home, Carthage, NC.

Prayers for family and friends. God bless you all
Rest well my sweet friend
To my high school friend, you will be missed. Prayers to your family and friends.
Rodney, Elizabeth and I joined in the celebration of Meredith’s life today at church. Her close friend’s comments brought tears to most in attendance. Our neighbor’s lost their daughter, Melissa, last year who was also in her late 30’s. I can not imagine the heart ache of such a lose. Melissa’s father had two boys by a prior marriage while his wife Debra only had Melissa. While close to the boys, her pain with the lose of Melissa appeared to ease some after a year, but I am sure it will never go away. We always expect that we will depart before out kids or grand kids. Life doesn’t always provide what we expect.
Liz and I pray for you and your family. Neither of us have experienced the lose of one of our own children and pray we never will. Your in our prayers. I tried several times to call but your phone was always busy and Carol’s went to voice mail with a full mail box. Take care my brother!
