Michael Lee Short, age 54 of Carthage died Tuesday (June 2, 2009) at Columbus Regional Health Care in Whiteville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Summer Hill Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Edwin Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County he was a son of Wilton and Mae Short. He was a graduate of Union Pines High School and graduated from Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga, TN. He was a pastor for 21 years serving at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Pittsboro, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carthage and Berrien Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY. He was currently employed with Commercial Pine Straw in Raleigh where he was a truck driver.
In addition to his parents he is survived by: his wife Linda Faulkner Short; daughter Lori Beth Hawkins and husband Tim of Louisville, KY; son Michael Lee Short, Jr. of Owensboro, KY; step daughter Angela Williams and husband Ernest of Carthage; step son Bobby Whitaker and wife Lynn Brower of Robbins; sister Diane Matthews and husband Wayne of Sanford; seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home from 6:00 —8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
