Mickey Joel Whitaker, age 69, of Carthage, passed away on October 18, 2022 at FirstHealth Moore Regional in Pinehurst. 

Born on January 4, 1953, in Moore County, Mickey was a son of the late David and Stella Carlyle Whitaker. 

Mickey was self employed and drove a truck for over 40 years. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Alesia Bolton Whitaker. 

Mickey is survived by his three children: Heather (Andrew) Hutchison of Birmingham, AL, Melissa Cokely of Moody, AL, Tyler (Jessica) Whitaker of Red Springs; step-children: Dana Syner and Loren O’Bannon both of Ft. Myers, FL; siblings: Garland (Dianne) Whitaker of Seven Lakes, Rex (Mildred) Whitaker of Woodlake, Becky Whitaker of Carthage, Andy (Barbara) Whitaker of Cameron, Jenny (Bobby) Black of Carthage; seven grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 2 PM at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage. The family will receive friends after the service and other times at the home of Jenny and Bobby Black in Carthage.
