Mildred Elliott Spivey, 88 of Carthage died Tuesday (January 27, 2009) at St. Joseph of the Pines in Southern Pines.
Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Thursday at Carthage United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Chuck Plowman and the Rev. Marshall Old. Burial will follow in Lamm's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Moore County she was a daughter of the late James William and Roxie Key Elliott. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Carthage Food Store.
She is survived by: her husband of 64 years Walter H. Spivey; son Walter H. Spivey, Jr. and wife Jan of Southern Pines; sister May Rogers of Southern Pines; brother J.W. Elliott, Jr. and wife Betty of Carthage; grandchildren Reid, Paige and Evan Spivey.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00 —8:00 PM and other times at the residence
