Nellie Bennett

Went home to be with the Lord July 1, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was 29 days short of her 92nd birthday as she peacefully passed away at home in Cameron, N.C.
Nellie Marie was born July 30, 1919 in Wendell, North Carolina, to Wade Hampton Hasty and Lora Pearl Johnson Hasty. She spent most of her early years in Moore County, more specifically in the Cool Springs Church Community.
A‚A Nellie was a multitalented person, in that she excelled in sports, being a fine basketball player. She was a dynamic musical person who was so fond of singing in church, as well as being a guitar player. Career wise she worked in the mercantile industry for many years, rising to the management level with Lee's Dime store in Carthage. For several years she even took over management of the family farm.A‚A A‚A A‚A A‚A 
She was married to Ralph Woodrow Bennett, who preceded her in 1989. Nellie is survived by a daughter: Elva Scarborough, Buies Creek N.C. a son: Donald Ralph Bennett and wife Anne, Cameron, N.C. and a brother: Dr. Fred Hasty, Fayetteville, N.C.
A‚A Nellie Marie is survived by 6 Grand Children: Rusty Scarborough and wife Dayna, Marty Scarborough and wife Ellen, Scotty Scarborough and wife Tammy, Michael Bennett and wife, Christy, Bennett Scarborough, Jennifer Bennett and Brenda Swearingin.
A‚A There are 8 great grand children: Kirstyn Marie Scarborough, Kelcie Bennett, Brooke Bennett, Olivia Scarborough, Evan Scarborough, Owen Scarborough, Draegen Scarborough and Zachary Swearingin.
A‚A The family will receive friends between 6pm-8pm on Sunday July 3rd at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage, N.C. Memorial grave side service on Monday July 4th, 9am at the Cameron Cemetery in Cameron, N.C. Following the service the family will receive friends at the home.
