Nellie Kennedy Barber, age 90 of Carthage died Sunday (September 27, 2009) at Peak Resources- Pinelake in Carthage.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday at Summer Hill Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Edwin Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:00 PM and other times at the residence of Wayne or Larry Barber.
A native of Moore County she was a daughter of the late Herbert Kennedy and Rosa Russell Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her husband Hardy Barber and retired from Union Pines High School where she worked in the cafeteria for many years.
She is survived by: sons Larry Barber and wife Susan of Carthage, Wayne Barber and wife Shelby of Carthage; sisters Esther Danley of Carthage, Doris Carroll of Morehead City, Betty Jean Peterson of Randleman; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
