Nympie Edgerton Gordon 97, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Pinelake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage, NC.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM , Thursday, September 15, 2016 at West End Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Jane Love and Reverend Dudley Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the West End Cemetery.
Nympie was a graduate of East Carolina University and a teacher for a short period of time before marriage and starting a family. She later assisted in running a family business with her husband, Leslie. They enjoyed square dancing together, with their friends. Nympie enjoyed flower gardening and quilting. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Time spent with her family, was time she cherished. Nympie was a daughter of the late Ivey and Velaria Wellons Edgerton. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie Gordon; grandson: Patrick Thompson; brothers: Walton and Wilbert Edgerton.
Nympie is survived by daughter: Janice Thompson and husband Gary, of Sanford; son: Robert Gordon and wife Debbie, of Carthage; grandchildren: David Thompson and wife Nicole, Elizabeth Thompson, Ryan Gordon and wife Kelly, Laura Gordon; great grandchildren: Emily and Daniel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm. Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.

I enjoyed visiting the Gordon home during my high school years and later in life ,shopping at the Red and White. Mrs. Gordon was a caring person.
