Paula and I worked together at Vass-Lakeview Elementary School. I was the librarian and for a while her little classroom was located in the library. In 2015 we coached a group of 4th and 5th grade students in a county competition known as “Battle of the Books” and we won. Geeat memories!
Paula Belle Garrison
February 17, 1951 ~ May 30, 2023
Paula Belle Garrison, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Seven Lakes Assisted Living.
Paula was born in Moore County on February 17, 1951 and was a daughter to the late Paul and Opal Currie Garrison.
She was a graduate from Western Carolina University and taught school in Hendersonville. She later earned her Master’s degree from UNC- Pembroke and then went on to teach at Vass-Lakeview Elementary School. Paula was a longtime member of Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings:Nancy Garrison Chavez, Marshall Garrison and Carl Garrison.
She is survived by her brother: Wesley Garrison; nephew Paul Chavez; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 3, 2023 at 10 am Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Culdee Presbyterian Church.

I fondly remember Paula from teaching with her at Vass Lakeview Elementary. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.

I attended the last two years of high school with Paula, who was a kind, smart, compassionate and quiet presence in the midst of some tumultuous times. Through the years and, particularly at class reunions, she remained the same. When i think of Paula I think of peace. Take your rest classmate. You will forever be remembered.
