Pearl Moore Darnell Parker, age 96, of Southern Pines died Thursday, August 18, 2016 at St. Joseph of the Pines.

A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Hill Baptist church, where she was a longtime member, with the Rev. J Greggory Newton, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow at Yates Thagard Cemetery in Whispering Pines.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage from 6:00pm - 8:00 pm.

She was born March 2, 1920 to the late George Turner and Minnie Brower Moore.  She was the last surviving of 13 siblings.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, A. E. "Buck" Darnell and D. Elwood Parker and a grandson L Tyler Darnell.  She is survived by daughter, Kay Darnell Neff and husband, Rick of Southern Pines, son Jerry W. Darnell and wife, Pamela of Westmoore and daughter Linda M. Darnell of Fontana, California, Robert G Parker of Richmond, Virginia and her sister in law, Mary Lee Flinchum of Carthage.  Grandchildren, Ashley Neff Adams of Jamestown, Douglas and Dr. Shannon Fox Miller of Fontana, California, Michelle Bennett of Pinehurst, Sherri Bennett, Butch Bennett and wife Erin and Staff Sgt. Justin Bennett & wife, Whitney all of Cameron.   Great grandchildren, Thomas and Rebecca Adams of Jamestown, Angus Miller of Omaha, Nebraska and Ean Miller of Fontana, California, Sgt. Jordan Kitchens of Jacksonville and Tayler Kidwell of St. George, Utah.

Pearl was a steadfast Christian, was generous to a fault to her family and friends, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and needlework.  She will be lovingly remembered as a mother and Gran who was always there and she felt great love and affection for her nieces and nephews.  

The family wishes to express deep appreciation for the loving care given to her at St. Joseph of the Pines.
