Master Sergeant Phillip Salzwedel, US Army, Ret., Age 70 died Saturday Oct.18, 2008 at HCR Manor Care in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church Conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. William Hancock. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
A native of Marshville, WI, he was a son of the late Harold and Freda Salzwedel. He was preceded in death by: his wife Carolyn Ragsdale Salzwedel and a brother Harold Salzwedel. Retired US Army Veteran, he served two tours in Vietnam and received a bronze star and three purple hearts. After retirement he farmed tobacco for 17 years and also retired for Civil Service where he taught survival at Camp McCall.
He is survived by: a daughter Sherry Blake and husband Cecil of Seven Lakes; sons Steve Salzwedel of Bermuda, Todd Salzwedel and wife Mary of Robbins; brother Richard Salzwedel of Holmen, WI; sisters Beverly Steinmetz of Peshtigo, WI, Roseanne Mordhorst of Ute, IO; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage and other times at the residents.
