Ralph Lee Ashburn, born in Surry County on September 6, 1921 to the late Walter and Mamie Crissman Ashburn passed away December 14, 2010 at his residence.
Ralph retired from Moore Regional Hospital as a Maintenance Supervisor, he also worked at Cornell - Proctor Silex and was a farmer before going to public work. Ralph also served in the Navy from May 12, 1944 to January 23, 1946 on the USS Dickins.
Ralph was preceded in death by his first wife, Myrtle Marsh Ashburn; son, Edgar Ashburn; brothers, Jesse and Roby Ashburn; sisters, Viola Brady and Odessa Hunt.
Ralph is survived by wife, Doris Spivey Ashburn; daughters, Nancy and husband Ronnie McCullen of Spring Lake, Tannie and husband Lenny Cummings of Carthage; son, Curtis Ashburn of Carthage; daughter in law, Lucille Ashburn of Cameron; grandchildren, Keith Ashburn, Ashley McCullen, Anthony Cummings, Beth Vance, Ronald McCullen, and Paige Gilmore; great grandchildren, Britney Ashburn, Samantha Ashburn, Katie Ashburn, Dillon Ashburn, Daniel Ashburn, Lincoln Cummings, Ryley Hill, Bradley Vance, and Easton McCullen; great great grandchildren, Blane Howe, Taylor Logan, Jacob Logan, and Noah Ashburn.
Graveside service will be at 2 PM Friday at Red Branch Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 6- PM Thursday at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home.
