Rev. Doric Council “D.C.” Sullivan, age 88 of Eagle Springs died Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Red Branch Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mike Branscom and Rev. J. Billy Graham. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A native of Moore County he was the last surviving son of the late William Linzy and Carrie Louise Howle Sullivan.

D.C. was called into the ministry at a young age. He preached his first service on Fathers Day 1949. He was ordained as a Baptist minister on August 10, 1952 and graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible College in 1961. He was always proud of the fact that Dr. Charles Stanley was one of his instructors. He went on to spend the rest of his life preaching the Word of God in many churches including but not limited to the following baptist churches – Center Cross, Calvary, Mt. Lebanon, Summerville, Liberty, Ninevah, Roanoke, Edgewood, Red Branch, Stoney Fork and others. D.C. held several revivals over the years and witness many souls being lead to Christ. His ministry through North Carolina lasted for over 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Beulah Davis Sullivan; son Phillip Wayne Sullivan, Sr.; brothers Lee Ross Sullivan, Thomas Linzy Sullivan; sister Martha Alice Hall.

He is survived by his wife Doris Daniel Coe Sullivan; son Jerry L. Sullivan of Indian Trail and Sparta; step-children Tim Coe and wife Donna of Carthage, Mary Lib Coe Stanley and husband Mike of Carthage, Elaine Coe Spencer of Wilmington, Frances Coe Walters and husband Chuck of Vass; grandsons Phillip Wayne Sullivan, Jr., James D. Sullivan, Justin D. Sullivan; granddaughters Krystal Lane Osbourne, Stephanie Marie Sullivan, Emily Michele Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 6:00-8:00 PM and other times at the home.
