Morris Lee Barber, 79, of Eagle Springs died on Saturday (August 3, 2013) at Peak Resources - Pinelake, Carthage, NC.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant View Friends Church on 13942 NC Highway 24/27, Eagle Springs, NC 27242 with Rev. Don Luellen and Rev. Jacelyn Jones officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Funeral Home, 241 North Middleton Street, Robbins, NC. Also, online condolences may be made at www.pinesfunerals.com.
Rev. Barber was born on June 13, 1934 in Alamance County to the late William Silas and Lula Ethel Wagoner Barber. In 1969 he received a Masters Degree from Duke University School of Divinity, Durham, NC. He has been a resident of Moore County since June of 1996, when he retired after 40 years of ministry, serving the United Methodist Church and Friends Church. He married Leoma Williams at Pleasant View Friends Church on August 20, 1954.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Barber was also preceded in death by brothers, Max Gardner Barber and Layton Herman Barber and a sister, Edna Janet Barber.
Surviving are his wife, Leoma; sons, Jonathan Craig Barber and wife Brenda of Mount Holly, Marcus David Barber and wife Dawn of Apex, and Bradford William Barber and wife Trish of Forest, VA; daughter Marcia Barber Gooch and husband Steve of Durham; grandchildren Cherryl Barber Rushing and husband Nic of Inman, SC; Christyl and Carole Barber of Mount Holly; David, Catherine and Kimberly Barber of Apex; Joshua Gooch of Durham; Aaron and Leah Barber of Forest, VA; great grandchildren Kamden and Karis Rushing of Inman, SC; sisters Virginia Crowder of Greensboro, Marie Zimmerman of Arkansas, and Carolyn Cook of Greensboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cemetery Fund, Pleasant View Friends Church, c/o Greer Williams, 1071 Talc Mine Road, Robbins, NC 27325.
