Richard Worth Blue, Sr.

Richard Worth Blue, Sr., 87, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at First Health Hospice House with his loving sons by his side.

Richard Blue Sr. was born in Carthage on June 6, 1939 to mother Edith and father Worth Blue.

Richard retired from a long career in banking at 50 years of age, after which he pursued his true passion as owner of Advantage Lawn Care – where he could work outdoors instead of sitting in an office all day. When he wasn’t working in the yard, Richard could often be found in the middle of the ocean on a boat or the beach shore surf fishing with his kids, and eventually, grandkids. Memories of long days spent in the sea with their spoils (however many or few) will be treasured by his family forever.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Worth Blue and Edith Cornelia McCaskill, and his devoted wife of 54 years, Vivian. He is survived by his sons, Roland Earl Blue (Sheila) of West End, and Richard Worth Blue, Jr. (Chris) of Greensboro; his sister, Wilma Grey Blue; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Culdee Presbyterian Church Cemetery in West End at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chad Nall officiating.

Everyone is invited to Pop’s house for a time of fellowship following the service.
