Robert Lewis Scott, 86, of Robbins passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 at First Health Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on August 12, 1937 in Greensboro, NC to the late Joseph L. Scott and Bertha Ann Maness Scott. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Frances Wilson Scott; his granddaughter: Abbie Scott; his brothers: Fred Scott, Joseph Scott, Roy Scott, and sister: Thelma Davis.
Robert worked in various textile industries and 27 years at Lancer Furniture. After retirement, he enjoyed driving around the neighborhood selling watermelons and cantaloupes out of his pickup truck, as well as going to the cow sale. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and hanging out at Scott Automotive and Bates Leather Co.. Most days, he was seen riding around with his brother James.
Robert was a man of great faith and loved attending and singing at his church. He was an active member and leader of his church, serving in many roles as needed. He also served outside the church in rest home ministries and for 25 years, served in prison ministries. Robert’s mission in life was to tell people about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to people. He spent his time visiting people and praying for them. In his life, he lived out 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Robert is survived by his son: Rodney and wife, Joanne; daughter: Kim Bates and husband, Tracy; grandchildren: Dylan Bates and wife Shannon, Lane Bates, Jordan Scott, Alison Bates, Jayden Scott, great-granddaughter: Lilyan Bates; his brothers: John Scott and wife Louise, David Scott and wife Peggy, James Scott, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be 2 PM, Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Bible Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastors Rex and Linda Knight, Pastor Hubert McLeod, and his grandson, Dylan Bates, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, September 10, 2023 at Kennedy Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to: Bible Pentecostal Holiness Church, 311 Browns Chapel Road, Robbins, NC 27325.

So sorry for your loss. Robert Scott was a great friend to everyone. He was a Godly man. He would tell everyone about Jesus. I can just see him in heaven now. He’s a shouting now and praising God. Robert is home now where he always talked about wanting to go. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
