Roy H. Nichols,82, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at FirstHealth Hospice House, Pinehurst, NC.

Roy was born October 12, 1938 in Moore County, to the late Cledge and Hattie Giles Nichols.  He was a member of a large and loving family growing up.  He was very talented as a sewing machine repairman and worked in the textile industries for many years.  Roy enjoyed fishing, NASCAR racing, Redskins football and was an avid Tarheel Basketball fan.   He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.   Family was always very important to him.  Roy was a good neighbor to many in his community.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his wife and friend of over 58 years, Martha Burgess Nichols;  brothers: Floyd, Wesley James, Dwight, Jack, Herbert Nichols; sister: Shirley Beck.

Roy is survived by sons: Jerry Nichols and wife Ashley, Tony Nichols; granddaughters: Toni, Laura; great granddaughter: Xandria; sister: Louvene Sheffield;  many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 7, 2022 at Acorn Ridge Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. John Williamson and Reverend Edwin Moore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Association (bcrf.org) or Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorsproject.org).

    What a difficult time you have had. We are praying for you during this difficult time that you would receive some comfort from knowing you are loved by us and the Lord.
