Ruby Louise Wheeless

Ruby Louise Wheeless, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Pinehurst, NC, on the morning of November 5th, 2022. Born to Ruby Lou Gillie and Louis Silver on January 8th, 1947, she was one of four children. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, William Oneal Wheeless, sister Barbara Hinesley, and granddaughter, Roxanne Wheeless. She is survived by her younger siblings, Lorna Saulisbury and Benny White. Neal and Louise raised three wonderful children, Larry Wheeless, Beverly Darhower, and Lisa Hand, who all survived her. In addition to being a loving mother, she was a caring grandmother and great-grandmother. Louise was affectionately known by all as “MeMe”.

All those who survived her, along with respective spouses and other extended family, were present in her final moments, just as she wanted most. Louise was the embodiment of the kindest soul and built a family based on unconditional love and trust. She showed unending support in each life journey that her loved ones chose and cherished  the quality moments spent at home gathered together. She always answered everyone’s call, no matter the time, and made sure you got home safely.

Before retiring, Louise made a career working as an office assistant with JP Stevens Textiles and Hinesley’s Heating and Air Services, staying true to her Sandhills roots. She was a true teacher that, in life, the size of your heart is infinitely more important than the size of your wallet.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Powell Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wheeless family.

Working side by side for many years and all the conversations about “Life” she never said a bad word but always words of encouragement and support. Her ending phone call was to tell you that she loved you. She will be extremely missed but lives on in our memories.
