Russell Alan Furniss
March 27, 1956 ~ February 27, 2023
Russell “Rusty” Alan Furniss passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 27, 2023 in his home in Robbins, North Carolina. Rusty was the oldest son of Sherman and Anna Lee Furniss, both deceased. Born, March 27, 1956, Russell lived a lot of his life in his childhood home in Frankfort Ohio. Russell had a huge heart and loved all his family dearly. His sense of humor and quick wit kept everyone smiling and laughing. He is survived by his wife, Marty DeLamatre, of Robbins, brothers Bruce (Krys) Furniss, Don (Ruby) Furniss, and sister, Dianna Jeffers. Rusty is also survived by his 3 sons, Jeremy (Bonnie), Jase (Amber), and Justin (Katie). Rusty was a proud grandpa to his 10 grandkids. Rusty had a special spot in his heart for his nephew Colby (deceased). He knew Colby was an angel and now he can rejoice with him and share an unlimited amount of Colby’s favorite “HO, HO, HO” that always brought a huge smile to Colby. Rusty’s extended family of nieces, Sandy, Amy Jo, Donnie, Jamie Lynn, Hannah, and Margaret along with his nephew Ryan and their spouses, significant others, and kids, were so important to Rusty. He has special memories with all of them and they all shared a special bond. Rusty always felt loved and cared for by so many.
When he married the love of his life, Marty, he gained even more family with a brother- in-law, Tim DeLamatre (Mary) and sister-in-law, Chris and even more nieces and nephews. He truly enjoyed special moments and events with family and spent a lot of time with his 90 yr. old mother-in-law, Marjorie DeLamatre, playing scrabble, drinking coffee, and telling stories to each other.
Rusty had a way to put a smile on anyone’s face. He loved his property in North Carolina, a good meal, and trying to satisfy his sugar-free sweet tooth. Husband, poet, uncle, brother, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend, he will be missed by all who had an opportunity to enjoy his humor and love. There will be a Celebration of Life held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 11am-2pm at the Nostalgia Gathering Place in Frankfort Ohio. All are welcome. Please remember Rusty’s love for a good meal and treat yourself to one in his memory (don’t forget dessert).
Kennedy Funeral Home is honored to serve the Furniss family.

To Bruce, Donnie, Dianne, and family, I am sorry for your loss. I knew Rusty as a friend in the neighborhood. It has been so many years ago. I always thought of the Furnace family as a good Christian family with whom we shared friendship for a time. Prayers for peace and comforting for the family.

The loss of Rusty saddens me greatly. It seems like there aren’t many of us “Greenlanders” left. Rusty was a good man. He would do anything for anyone who needed help. His Momma raised wonderful children. Bruce, Don, Dianne, Jason and your siblings, I’m thinking of you and your famies. Love all of you so much.
Rusty was our neighbor for many years. Such a sweet fellow. Our prayers are with his family and friends. Rest in Peace Rusty.
