Ruth Jarrell Myrick

Ruth Jarrell Myrick, 89, of Robbins, passed away at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Biscoe on Saturday, January 23, 2021.

Ruth was a native of Montgomery County and daughter of the late Claude and Margie Jarrell of Star.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Adolf Myrick. After being a stay at home mom, Ruth spent many years in the hosiery industry working at Quality Mills before retiring from Ithaca Hosiery.  She felt the need to do more after retirement so started work as a caregiver for several families in the Robbins area that needed in-home assistance.

Ruth enjoyed life and was always smiling.  Her sense of humor was always a source for laughter. She had a sweet, caring disposition and would always see the positive in every situation.  She cared about her family and friends and would always help in any way she could.  Ruth loved music and some of her favorite times were spent going square dancing.  But her strongest love was for her grandchildren.  She loved and adored her grandchildren!  Ruth would take every opportunity possible to spend time with them.  All you had to do was ask her and she would smile and tell you all about them.

Ruth was a member of Robbins First Baptist Church where she attended many years while able.  She was a spiritual woman and enjoyed taking part in church activities.

In addition to her spouse and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by brothers Edgar Jarrell, Herman Jarrell, Hoyle Jarrell, JC Jarrell, Odell Jarrell, Roy Jarrell, and Coy Jarrell.  Her only surviving brother is Claude Jarrell Jr. of High Point.

Ruth is preceded in death by one of her sons, Sherrill Von Myrick (wife Gloria) of Rockingham that passed away on December 26, 2020.  Surviving children are Tobie Brown and husband, Walter (Shorty) of Carthage, Rhonda Sessoms and husband, James of Mebane, and Scotty Myrick and his wife, Lydia of Indian Land, SC.   Grandchildren include Haley Sessoms, Kayla Brown and Brice Sessoms (wife Loren).  She was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Myrick.

A graveside service will be held at 11am Saturday, January 30th at Pine Rest Cemetery in Robbins (casual dress). Wallace Jarrell, her nephew, will be officiating.  The body will lie in repose from 9am-10:30am prior to service at Kennedy Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Robbins Fire and Rescue Association, PO Box 987, Robbins, NC  27325 or Meals on Wheels of Robbins.
