Sally Lou Goad Horner entered into the loving embrace of her savior Jesus Christ on April 28, 2021 surrounded by her family. 

 

Sally was born on June 12, 1935 in Surry County, NC to the late Rev. Deshazo W. and Nannie Deathridge Goad. She was a seamstress for many years at Southern Garment and Ithaca Industries before retiring in 1998. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to gospel singings, gardening, travelling, reading her bible, and going to church. Sally was a kind and loving soul who never met a stranger and would often share with others her love for Jesus. She was a founding member of Guiding Light Baptist Church and truly was a guiding light to many others through her witness to the power and grace of Jesus Christ. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Tom” Horner, sisters: Virginia Millard, Magdalene “Maggie” Goad; granddaughters: Eugenia Morgan, Anna Sheffield.

 

Sally is survived by her son Carl Vipperman of the home; her daughters: Diane (Roger) Foster of Angier, Sheila (Floyd) Sheffield of Robbins, Debbie (Ronnie) Bowers of Ellerbe; her brother and sister: Kenneth and Kitty Goad, of Mt. Airy, NC; grandchildren: Ronnie (Erica) Morgan, Sidney Sheffield, Kimberly (Travis) Stuart, Daniel (Julie) Morgan, Daniel (Stacey) Meredith, Matthew (Michelle) Sheffield, Susan Bowers, Kelly Sheffield, Michael Bowers, and Brittany (Steven) Meza; 17 great grandchildren;  1 great-great grandchild; and many friends.

 

Graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Guiding Light Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Mark Medlin and Reverend Clyde Allen officiating.

 

The body will lie in repose from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 30, 2021 at Kennedy Funeral Home.

 

Memorials may be made to Guiding Light Baptist Church, 3353 Spies Road, Robbins, NC 27325.

  2. Miss Sally was a fine Lady. I enjoyed our chats when working in the textile industries with her. She was a “Guiding Light” for many folks whom she met. Her love for the Lord was evident. May God’s Love and Blessing be with the family during this sad time of loss. Sending prayers for strength.
