Sandra VonMetzger Stephens, age 67, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 12 at her home in Vass.

 

A graveside service is planned for 12:00 PM on Friday at Cypress Presbyterian Church cemetery with Rev. Barbara Hedin and Rev. Rodda officiating.

 

Sandra was the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle McMillan VonMetzger. She was born in Sanford on March 9, 1948. She spent 20 years in NC before moving to California where she would reside for 30 years. She returned to her roots in North Carolina in 1997. Since then Sandra spent her time working in the floral industry. Sandra was an avid animal lover. She enjoyed her dogs, doing yard work and singing in the church choir.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Stephens of Sparks, NV and Destiny McCorkle of Box Elder, SD and one sister, Sara Dykstra of Sacramento, CA.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Firsthealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, or to the Moore County Humane Society, P.O. Box 203, Southern Pines, NC 28388.

 

The family requests that no food be brought to them as they will soon be leaving to return to their homes out of state.

  1. Sandra was always a strong supporter of mine during our Union Pines days. A sweet, sweet gal and dear friend. I will miss her! Deepest sympathy to the family.
