Sawyer Jameson Raines, age 13 of Whispering Pines passed away Monday, December 2, 2019 at his home. 

 

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday at First Baptist Church Carthage with Pastor Brian Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Cross Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 12:00. 

 

Sawyer was a student at New Century Middle School and played percussion in the band. He had lots of interests including reading, drawing, watching movies and photography. Most every morning on his way to school he would take a picture of the sunrise for his mother. He loved animals and talked frequently about being a veterinarian or zoologist.  

 

He is survived by his parents Lt. Col. Jim Raines and Allison Smith Raines of Whispering Pines; brothers Wilson Raines and Conner Raines; maternal grandparents Danny and Marsha Smith of Euharlee, GA; paternal grandmother Pat Raines of Cartersville, GA; Maternal great-grandparents Senate and Dottie Wilson and Helen Nelson all of Cartersville, GA. 

 

Services are entrusted to Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.

  9. Dear family, I dont know you but I’m almost a year into your new journey. My son Aidan (14) died dec 8, 2018. He had gone to new century too. I asked parents to get you my contact info in case you want to reach out in the future. To much to say here and right now you are just functioning.

    I know my Aidan made sure Sawyer was welcomed with loving arms and probably legos!!!
