Scott Jodale Riley, 59, of Carthage, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at his home in Carthage.
Born May 8, 1964, Scott was the youngest son of the late James (Jimmy) L. Riley Jr. and Norma Jean Riley.
He graduated from Union Pines High School in 1982. He furthered his education and Sandhills Community College and Appalachian State University, eventually returning home to join the family business, Riley Paving, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Lane Riley; three children: Jessica Riley Fradenburgh (Zack) of Wilmington, NC, Taylor Jeane Riley of Cameron and Jacob Zachary Riley of Cameron; one grandson, Waylon Fradenburgh of Wilmington; his sister, Debbie Riley of Seven Lakes and his brother Landy Riley (Belinda) of Carthage, and several nieces and nephews: Jeanne Hobbs of Southern Pines, Jim Hobbs (Dana) of Bolivia, NC, Tatum Riley, James Riley, and Dawson Riley of Carthage.
Scott had many friends and valued each one. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, collecting pottery, antique guitars, guns, arrow heads, and cars. He was an avid guitar player.
Scott’s service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vass with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Church Fellowship Hall. The burial will follow at Cross Hill Cemetery in Carthage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Vass, 3446 US 1 Hwy, Vass, NC 28394.

I was saddened to see Scott’s obituary in the paper here yesterday. My condolences to both of you and all of Scott’s family. The Riley family has a special place in my heart and I always enjoyed seeing the four of you in Division Seven.
