SGM Norman Roberts:

SGM (Retired) Norman "Pat" Roberts passed away on 27 August 2010 at his home with his family after an extended illness. A member of Special Forces, he served proudly in the military for 30 years. Assignments included Ft. Campbell KY, Ft. Bragg, Korea, Japan, Germany, Vietnam, Iran, Dominican Republic, and Okinawa.

Special commendations and honors awarded included:

National Defense Service Medal 1st OLC, Good Conduct Medal 9 Awards, Korean Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal 1st OLC, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Jump Wings, Iranian Parachute Badge, World War II Victory Medal, Vietnam Civil Action Medal 1st OLC, Army of Occupation Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Dom Rep), Master Parachute Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal W/V Device.

A private memorial service will be held on Wednesday 1, September at 11:00 in the John F. Kennedy Memorial Chapel on Ft. Bragg. Internment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Southern Pines with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patâa‚¬a„¢s memory to First Health Hospice House, 150 Applecross Rd. Pinehurst, NC 28374.

A true guiding light, Pat leaves behind his wife Mary Katherine of the home. Four daughters: Toni Lee Roberts Norris, Greenville, SC; Tracy Lynn Roberts Oâa‚¬a„¢Neil; Gastonia, NC, Sue Roberts Schmidt and Randall Schmidt, Ellicott City, MD; Kamin Pat Roberts Tsuhara and Robert Tsuhara, Chesterfield, VA; four grandsons, one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
