Born in: Moore County, NC
Resided in: Pinehurst, NC

Sharon Kay Sheffield, born December 30, 1967, passed away peacefully from this life on April 25, 2026.

Sharon was a beloved daughter, sister, and friend whose life was touched by the love and care of many who walked beside her through the years.

Sadly, Sharon’s active life was cut short when in 1985, while a junior at Union Pines High School she was in a debilitating car accident. She was never able to fully recover from the accident and spent the majority of her life being cared for by her family. Prior to the accident she was an active and popular student with high achievements including being a recipient of the Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

Sharon was preceded in death by her loving parents, Charles and Mickey Doss Sheffield, and her dear sister, Janet Sheffield Felix.

She is survived by her devoted sisters, Linda Sheffield Johnson, Kim Sheffield Terry and husband Bob, and Cheryl Sheffield Sellers, along with many loving nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory and the special bond they shared.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on April 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Pineywood Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow. The service will be officiated by Pastors Jimmy Calhoun and Richard Talbert. The family will be meeting at other times at the home of Linda Sheffield Johnson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have cared for and supported Sharon and her family throughout the years. A special thank you is extended to the staff at Pinehurst Health and Rehabilitation Center for the compassion, kindness, and dedicated care they provided Sharon during the final part of her journey here on earth.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Sharon’s memory.

Sharon’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. I remember Sharon with a Smile and the love of a friend I cared about. We were friends from the first Bus Ride at Farm Life Elementary till I left For Science and Math in the summer of ’84. She’ll be missed but I’ll see her in heaven someday!

  2. I remember Sharon well from high school. She was always so nice with a smile on her face. Prayers for the family.

  3. Sharon was such a good friend to me all through elementary school and high school. We had some good times. She was a loving and caring person and always had a smile on her face. She will be missed.

  4. Linda and family , I’m praying for each of you that have taken such wonderful care and loved Sharon all these years.

  5. We were saddened to hear of the passing of Sharon Sheffield from this life. My sister, Lisa Peele, became friends with Sharon while attending Union Pines. My wife and I talked with Sharon on several occasions and found her to be a sweet, outgoing individual – she made friends easily. It was refreshing to know that she had parents and sisters who loved and took good care of her throughout her lifetime. Sad to say, many people today do not have that kind of loving family support.
May the Heavenly Father and his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit make themselves more real to you during this time of mourning.

    Archie and Peggy Peele

  6. So sorry for the loss. May the good Lord wrap his loving arms around you all. Charles was Larry’s
Uncle and he has many good memories. Love and prayers to all.
