Shelby Jean Letcho Brown, 85, of Robbins, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Autumn Care of Biscoe, surrounded by her family.

Shelby was born June 16, 1938,to the late Vernie and Bessie Freeman Letcho. 

Shelby is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James Winfred Brown; sister: Hilda Sanders (Winfred), of Robbins; brothers: Thomas Letcho, of Robbins, Vernie Letcho (Patricia), of Asheboro; special aunt: Katie Davis, of Raleigh; sisters in law: Virginia B. McIntyre, of Troy, Clara Saunders, of Robbins, Libby Poole, of Sparta, Kaye Elliott, of Robbins, Rose Cassady, of Browns Summit; many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother: Harold Letcho; uncle: Arlie Davis.

Shelby loved  traveling and caring for her flower garden.  Many of the staff at Autumn Care spoke of their fondness for their favorite patient, Shelby.  She had a way of talking to others and would always get her point and opinion across to them.  Shelby was a licensed beautician, working in Durham where she and Winford lived for more than 33 years.  She was a member of Unity Grove Baptist Church, where she participated in the Ladies Fellowship for many years.

Funeral service will be 3 PM, Sunday September 10, 2023 at Unity Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor Jason Cheek officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

  4. Shelby is greatly missed at autumn care by all that knew and loved her. She was a sassy, classy, sweet soul and will be remembered by us at autumn care. Prayers and condolences to the family.
