Shelley Slagle Smith, 69, of Eagle Springs, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at her home.
A funeral service will be held a 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Carthage, with the Rev. Rick Martindale officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Union County. She was a Bookeeper for Smith Auction and was a 1957 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, R.G. Smith, of the home; a son, Mark Wingate of Mooresville; two daughters, Kim Hirst and her husband, Jim, of Charlotte, and Amy Porterfield and her husband, Tony, of Roxboro; a stepson, Todd Smith of Carthage; a stepdaughter, Kimberly Gibson and her husband, Don, of Vass; and 15 grandchildren.
