Stella Carlyle Whitaker, age 84 of Carthage died Friday at Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Beaver Creek Baptist Church, 2280 Nicholson Road, Cameron, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

 

A native of Moore County she was the oldest of seven children born to the late Garland and Lucinda Lineberry Carlyle. Stella was an active charter member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, and along with her sisters and daughters cleaned houses and business all over Moore County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband David Cecil Whitaker; sister Joan Baxley; brothers David “Buck” Carlyle and James “J.B.” Carlyle; daughter in law Alesia Whitaker.

 

Stella is survived by: her six children Garland Whitaker and wife Dianne of Seven Lakes, Rex Whitaker and wife Mildred of (Woodlake) Vass, Mickey Whitaker of Carthage, Rebecca Whitaker of Carthage, Anthony “Andy” Whitaker and wife Barbara of Whispering Pines, Jennifer Black and husband Bobby of Carthage; sisters Peggy Patterson of Sanford, Joyce Futral of Lobelia; brother Gerald Carlyle of Lexington, SC; sisters-in-law Willia Mae Carlyle, and Pat Carlyle, 13 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends Sunday at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
