Thomas Ray Speer

Thomas Ray Speer , age 92, of Carthage, died Sunday, July 12, 2015 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Archie Stevens officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home.
A native of Yadkin County, he was the son of the late John Harrison Speer & Lula Carter Speer. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII, where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked for Clark Chevrolet as an auto body repairman and later owned and operated Lakeside Body Shop in Pinehurst. He was a member of Priest Hill Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Post #350 in Pinehurst
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Speer; two sisters, Alice Braddock and Jessie Pearl Tyner; three brothers, Dave Speer, Harrison Speer and Hubert Speer.
He is survived by his daughter, Dianne S. Hopton & husband, Larry of Carthage; two sisters, Halia S. Marsh of Carthage and Nellie Parrish of Savannah, GA; one grandson, Jason Hopton & wife, Molly of Clearwater, FL; one granddaughter, Melissa S. Bible; three great-grandsons, Gray Hopton, Drue Bible and J. T. Bible.
