Thomas V. Herndon, age 66, died Thursday at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Carthage fellowship hall on Saturday, May 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
A native of Valdosta, Georgia he was the son of the late Harry C. Herndon, Sr. and Verna Allbritton Herndon. He attended Andrew College, Florida State University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest. He was a devoted Baptist minister pastoring many churches during his life including: Chockoyotte Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids, Bethlehem Baptist Church in Carthage, Hocutt Baptist Church in Clayton, Judson Baptist Church in Fayetteville and First Baptist Church in Carthage retiring in 2011. He was an avid outdoorsman and skeet shooter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a past member of the masonic lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ann Patterson Herndon; a daughter, Kelli Calcutt and husband, Rodney Calcutt, II of Carthage; a sister in law, Kay Patterson of Carthage; two brothers, Carlton Herndon of Leesville, SC and Richard 'Dick' Herndon and wife, Kay of Avon Park, Florida; a one year old grandson, Lincoln Thomas Calcutt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center
