Vernon Cole Kelly, age 87 of Carthage died Wednesday (May 6, 2015) at Peak Resource - Pinelake in Carthage.
A private graveside services was held at Cross Hill Cemetery.
A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Lawrence A. and Maggie Cole Kelly. He was a US Navy Veteran and a member of the Carthage Lodge 181 AF&AM. Vernon worked in Transportation Management for 45 years and lived in many different states before retiring back to Carthage in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Margaret Wicker Kelly; two special nephews Danny Baker and wife Peggy of Sanford, Eddie Baker of Sanford; two addition nephews and one niece; cousin Benny Cole of Carthage.
Fry and Prickett Funeral Home in Carthage is assisting the Kelly family.

I’m so sorry to hear of Vernon Cole’s passing. Daddy & I often saw him at Pete’s or met him on the road when he or we were headed there. All the family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
