Vernon "Jim" Monroe Freeman, age 82 , died Friday, February 24, 2017 at Autumn Care in Biscoe.

A private memorial service is planned for a later date.

Vernon, best known as "Jim", was a native of Moore County.  He was the son of the late Charlie Merlie Freeman and Ruby Yow Freeman and was a US Navy veteran.  He was preceded in death by his son, Vernon Charles Freeman; brothers, Paul Freeman, Charlie Bascom Freeman, Dewey Freeman, James Roland Freeman, John Thomas Freeman, Jesse "Pete" Freeman, Albert "Pamey" Freeman, Nathan Bragg Freeman, Daniel Wesley Freeman; a sister, Lettie Pearl McNeill.

Survivors include his sister, Bertha Smith Burgess of Robbins and several nieces and nephews.
