Victor A Weinrich 83, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at FirstHealth Hospice House, surrounded by family.

Victor was born in Hawthorne, New Jersey on March 12, 1940, to the late Victor Adolph and Laura Brown Weinrich. While serving his country in the United States Air Force in Sacramento, California, he met the love of his life, Diane, at a church Valentine’s Day dance in 1960, and married that June. In addition to working in the Computer Services Manufacturing industry until his retirement, Victor served his local communities on several ARC committees in both California and North Carolina (where he moved to in 2005), as Treasurer of the United Cerebral Palsy Society – Sacramento Chapter, and as State Treasurer for UCP, California.

Victor remained constantly busy with a wide variety of hobbies, including music, genealogy, family, and never-ending projects at home.  Victor’s love of all genres of music began when he learned to play guitar in his youth and created a band, Stardust, during high school, to a regular subscription listening to the Philharmonic orchestra from the comfort of his own home. He enjoyed searching for new links to family history and comparing information he was able to find and verify. Victor loved his family. When the Pandemic impacted his ability to travel and visit, he initiated regular Online Chats that he looked forward to every other Saturday.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter: Barbara Jean Weinrich; brother: John Weinrich; and son in law: Craig Tomczak.

Victor in survived by his wife of 63 years, Diane; children: Cathleen Flynn (Connor), Wendy Tomczak, Mary Selano (Jeffery), David Weinrich (Michele); grandchildren: Stephen Tomczak (Amber), Dylan Tomczak (Edith Gonzalez-Rojas), Raymond Tomczak, Julian Selano, Camille Selano, Annabelle Selano, Alexander Weinrich, Jakob Weinrich; great grandchildren: Alaynah Templin, Audesi Tomczak, Caysea Tomczak; sister: Carol Hollender; brother: Daniel Weinrich; aunts, cousins; many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family greatly appreciates the outstanding and compassionate care he received during his recent illness over the last month of his life and would especially like to recognize: Dr. Michael Antil, MD – Pinehurst Medical Clinic; Tiffany Laske, NP – Liberty Palliative Care Program; and Dr. Mariel Gilliam, Hospitalist – FirstHealth Hospital.

Memorial service will be 2 PM, July 25, 2023 at Community Congregational Church, Southern Pines, NC with Reverend Archie Stevens officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
