Virginia Brewer Smith, age 84, of 8548 NC Highway 705, died Tuesday (March 3, 2009) at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Carthage with the Rev. Rick Martindale and the Rev. Tal Madison officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County, she was the daughter of the late Doctor Franklin Brewer and Jeanette Morgan Brewer. She worked for several years at Car-Fab and as a secretary at R. G. Smith Oil Company. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell G. Smith, Sr.; a sister, Bonnie Wood, a brother, Lacy W. Brewer and a grandson, Christopher Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Odell Hussey; a daughter, Lucille Goodson of Charlotte; a son, R. G. Smith, Jr. of Carthage; two brothers, Arthur Brewer and J. F. Brewer both of Eagle Springs; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday and other times at 8548 NC Hwy 705, Eagle Springs.
