Virginia Tillman Fry

Carthage Virginia Tillman Fry, 82 of 308 Summer Hill Church Rd, died Tuesday, September 12 after a brief illness. A graveside service were held 11:00 AM Thursday at Summer Hill Baptist Church, conducted by her nephew Robbie Yow.

A native of Lee County, she was preceded in death by her parents John R. Tillman and Emma M. Tillman and her husband of 53 years, Charlie Fry.

She was trained as a registered nurse with the Cadet Nursing Corps at City Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem. After she left nursing, she became a loving wife, mother, grandmother & friend to many. She was a life long member of Summer Hill Baptist Church where she was active in the daily life of the church. She was loved and will be truly missed by those who's lives she touched.

She is survived by her son, Chuck Fry of Southern Pines; a daughter, Jeri Fry Hardy and husband James S. Hardy of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren James Hodges Hardy II of Auburn AL, Charles Haywood Fry Hardy and Emma Kathleen Hardy both of Williamsburg, VA; Sisters Dorothy T. Yow of Sanford and Ruth T. Brooks of Boone & Carthage; brother-in-law Homer H. Fry and wife Ilene of Carthage.
