W. Argene Brown, age 85 of Carthage died Tuesday (June 3, 2014) at FirstHealth Hospice House in Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Crossroads Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Mike Holyfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County he was a son of the late Hugh T. and Ocia Cockman Brown. Argene was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was a farmer most of his life and also worked for Eveready in Asheboro and Proctor Silex in Southern Pines.
He was preceded in death by: a brother June Brown and sisters, Myrtie Kennedy and Maxine Vest.
He is survived by: sisters Josephine Crabtree and husband Carlton of Elkhart, IN, Lois Priest and husband Joe of Carthage; brothers Tracy Brown and wife Sherry of Carthage and Monroe Brown of Carthage. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who he loved deeply.
The family will receive friends at Kennedy Funeral Home from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday and other times at the home of Tracy and Sherry Brown.
Memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, 6787 Highway 705, Robbins, NC 27325.
