W. Clyde Overton, age 82 of 773 Brinkley Road and also of Maiden died Wednesday (December 5, 2007) at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday at Doub's Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery conducted by his son-in law Pastor Dana Brewer.
A native of Montgomery County he was a son of the late Walter Overton and Martha Allen Overton. He worked for Stanley Furniture for 28 years and farmed. His wife Estelle Short Overton preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his wife Bernice Hurley Overton of Maiden; daughter Ann Brewer and husband Dana of West End; sons Russell Overton, Doug Overton and wife Sue all of Carthage; step-sons Ronnie and Tommy Hurley both of Maiden; sisters Georgia Earnhart of Candor, Margaret Thomas of Jackson Springs, brother John Overton of Biscoe; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two step-great-grand children; one step-great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home Thursday from 7:00 —8:30 PM and other times at the residence of Russell Overton, Brinkley Road.
