Walter Lee Dangerfield, 84 of 660 Timber Lane in Robbins, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 19, 2008.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM. Monday, December 22, 2008 at the First Baptist Church, Robbins with Dr. Kenneth McNeill and the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will be with Military Honors at Pine Rest cemetery. Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins is assisting the family.
Mr. Dangerfield was born January 28, 1924 in Summerville, SC. To John and Mary Dangerfield. He was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and participated in combat operations during WWII. He was a Truck Driver for over 40 years with 31 of those with Milliken. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years and a lifetime member of Robbins VFW Post 9245 and devoted member of the Robbins First Baptist Church. He was a Loving and Caring husband and father whom gave a lot of his time to help others of the Robbins Community in need. His first wife Pauline Dangerfield, a sister; Inez Driggers and a brother Paul Dangerfield preceded him in death.
Surviving is; wife Dorothy Allred Dangerfield of the home.
3 daughters: Betty Sottile of Glassboro, NJ; Jane Meldrich and Cathy Taormina both of Charlotte, NC.
1 stepdaughter; Vicki Allred Willett of Jugtown, NC.
2 sons; Ron Dangerfield of Jacksonville, NC; and Keith Dangerfield of Whispering Pines, NC.
1 stepson; Robert Allred of Robbins.
2 brothers; John ( Mac ) Dangerfield of Monchs Corner, SC; and Carroll Dangerfield of Charleston, SC.
1 sister; Edna Butler of Harrington, Delaware.
8 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6:00 " 8:00 PM. Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Robbins First Baptist Church and other times at the home.
