Wayne Lester Caviness, age 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC. He is now enjoying the presence of his Lord and Saviour.

Born August 25, 1953 in Biloxi, Mississippi, Wayne was the son of the late Lester and Helen Caviness.

During Wayne’s career, he served 4 years in the US Air Force achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Following his military service, he worked as a Central Office Technician for Windstream Communications acquiring the nickname “Mainframe” from his co-workers for his outstanding ability. He made himself a man of many talents, and would willingly help and teach others with the skills and knowledge he acquired. For over forty years, he faithfully taught the Bible for Children’s programs and served as a Deacon in his local church. He was known for being a man of excellence and integrity in all things.

Wayne was a precious Godly man who served the Lord faithfully. Heaven is sweeter because he is there. Praying for all of you 🙏🙏🙏❤️

  3. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Caviness family during this time of loss. Wayne was a wonderful person and faithful to Yates Thagard Baptist Church. He will surely be missed.

  4. Wayne “Mainframe” was my co-worker and friend. At some point he was also referred to as “Bud”. Bud and I shared many interests. Politics, religion, movies just to name a few. He really showed me what “a good friend is” after my little brother passed away, helping me during that time. He is going to be missed, very much.

  5. Many memories growing up as a neighbor to Wayne and his family. He had wonderful parents to our community! He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers for the family.

  6. I’m so sorry to hear the passing of my friend an co-worker Wayne (Bud/Mainframe), we worked together many years at Windstream. Wayne was a good man and friend, he was alot of fun always in a good mood, he shared his knowledge and sometime questioned your knowledge to see if you really knew what you were talking about. He will be missed by many including myself,
