William H. 'Bill' Lynch

William H. "Bill" Lynch of Carthage went to be with his Holy Lord on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at his home after 60 years of life.
William was born on September 25, 1946, the first son of Herbert B. and Allene (nee Bridgers) Lynch in Fuquay-Varina. He was a 1964 graduate of Carthage High School and continued his education at North Carolina State and Pembroke Universities, earning degrees in agriculture and history. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.
William is survived by his loving sisters and brothers Cynthia Swaggerty of Charlotte, Gretchen (Dr. John A.) Phillips of Brentwood, Tenn., Candace (Brent) Dowler of Crystal Lake, Ill., Jane (Jim) Sparks of Cedar Grove, Zaida Franklin of Durham, Joe (Ann) Lynch of Carthage, Herbert (Linda) Lynch of Holden Beach, and Mark (Sherri) Lynch of Raleigh.
He is further survived by his nieces and nephews Worth Sparks, James Sparks, Shannon Swaggerty, Jennifer Simmons, John Phillips, Charlie Phillips, James Phillips, Joseph Lynch, Zaida Dix, Will Lynch, Robert Ward, Layman Franklin, Jessica Leichsenring, Joshua Frank, Savannah Lynch, as well as 16 great-nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his parents Herbert B. and Allene Lynch, half-sisters Blonza Mason, Maryetta Wood and Iris Stowers; and half-brother Oris Lynch.
He was a friend to all animals and especially enjoyed spending time with his four-legged friends Big Pup and Anna.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home, 402 East Sanders Street in Carthage.
Funeral services for William will be held on Saturday, January 20 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carthage, 108 McNeill Street conducted by Rev. Tom Herndon. Burial will follow with military honors at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
