William Horace Riddle

William Horace Riddle, known by all who loved him as “Billy”, passed quietly on May 12, 2022. He was born November 24, 1952 at Presbyterian Hospital, Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Judy Blue Riddle, his father David Paul Riddle, and his mother Carolyn Stansell Riddle. He is survived by his brother David Paul Riddle Jr. and his wife Libby, and his brother, John Charles Riddle and his wife Donna and their son Gage. He will be missed by a large group of loving family and friends. 

After graduating high school at North Mecklenburg, Billy went into restaurant management where he met Judy. They married and proceeded on their adventure of life. Billy managed restaurants and worked in the hospitality industry in Charlotte NC, Richmond Virginia, and Orlando Florida. Billy was mentored, admittedly, by his favorite uncle Henry Ammons Stansell. 

Billy and Judy eventually returned to Moore county where her parents and other family members resided. Upon Judy’s passing, Billy moved to Lexington NC where he quickly made friends and could be found “holding court” at the corner booth during breakfast most mornings. Billy had a passion for animals and gave time to a local animal adoption group. 

Services will be on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Eureka Presbyterian Church, at 2pm. Visitation will begin at 1pm. The church is located at 2185 Farm Life Road Carthage NC 28327. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. 

 In lieu of flowers Billy requested a donation to your local Humane society.
