Resided in: West End, NC

William L. Davis, loving husband, and father of three, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home and saw his Savior face to face on September 29, 2021. He was born in Mineral Ridge, Ohio, to Commodore and Edith Golden Davis, the sixth child in a family of seven. His twin sister, Florence, was born just minutes before him. Bill grew up and spent most of his life in Ohio. Bill came to faith in Jesus as a teenager attending Evansville Baptist Church and felt called into the ministry. He attended Baptist Bible Seminary, at that time, located in Johnson City, New York, and upon graduation, took his first pastorate at Calvary Baptist Church in Hubbard, Ohio. In the first year there, he married Priscilla Washburn and they faithfully served at two other churches, Grand Avenue Baptist Church, Fairborn, Ohio and Bible Baptist Church, Bedford, Ohio. After Priscilla’s homegoing, Bill met June Ward, who soon became his wife. Bill and June continued to serve at Bible Baptist until his retirement in 2006, upon which they helped a church in the Erie, Pennsylvania area. Bill was the loving husband to Priscilla, who preceded him in homegoing, and June, who has tenderly cared for him in recent months. He was the father to Becky and Steve, Butch and Dawn, and Brian and Kori. He was the proud grandfather of Ashley and Nate, Dave, Isaac, Emma, Abigail, Liam, Chloe, Zach, Keaten, and Beckem. His great-grandsons, Henry and Will, were a joy to him. His sister, Florence, and brother, Thomas, survive him, along with his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. A service of celebration of William’s life will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 3 p.m., at Bible Baptist Church, 20 Avalon, in Bedford, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Baptist Community Center of Cleveland, Ohio. (freehope.org) While we grieve the loss of William’s life on earth, we do not sorrow without hope. We are confident that we will be reunited with him in our heavenly home.

  5. Doug and I had the pleasure of meeting Pastor Bill through our good friends, Ralph and Judy Bates. We loved him and June from the first meeting. Loved talking to him about the Lord and just having conversations with him. He was a Godly man who was a doer of the Word and not just a hearer.
We know where he is so I won’t say sorry to you June for your loss. You haven’t lost him. We will continue to pray for Gods watch care and comfort for you until you are united with him once again. Deepest sympathy. We love you.
