Pastor William Matthew Cashion, Jr., 71, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with his wife of 46 years by his side.
William was born on October 14, 1954, to the late William Cashion, Sr., and Valene McDuffie in Sanford, North Carolina.
William graduated from Fayetteville Technical Community College as a Tool & Dye Maker and later became a Tooling & Engineering Manager for many years. However, he was obedient to God’s calling on his life and became a pastor and evangelist for Jesus Christ. He was the Pastor at Cool Springs Church for 20 years and Carbonton Community Church for 6 years.
His humility and kindness were a testament to the many people whom he led to salvation through Christ Jesus. He not only proclaimed Christ as his Lord and Savior, but he also bore the Fruits of the Spirit in everything he did as husband, father, friend, and pastor. He was a “Good and Faithful Servant.” He was deeply loved and will be missed by everyone he touched.
William is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Cashion.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Cashion; his two daughters, Blair and her husband Brad, and their children, Hazelton and Lennox; and Laura and her husband Dan, and their children, Hayden and Will.

Grew up with William. He was more than a cousin. Spent a lot of time at his parents home, fishing, learning to drive a tractor. There are so many fond memories I have with William. I am sad to hear of his passing. Last memory was talking to him at Larry Jr services. I always loved talking with William. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:38-39 Bless you William i know you are with the Lord Jesus in a better place he has made for us.
Cynthia and family our thoughts and prayers are with you!
So sorry for your loss.
