William “Bill” Nelson McDuffie, Sr. 84, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 15, 2015, surrounded by his family.

 

Funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2105  at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend Lindsay Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends beginning at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the church.

 

A native of Moore County and a graduate of Elise High School Class of 1951, Bill served his country in the United States Air Force. He loved the Lord and served his church on the Administrative Council, the United Methodist Men and many other roles. He loved to serve the Men’s breakfast that wonderful country ham he sold at McDuffie Appliance and Plumbing LLC that he owned and operated. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially loved the time he spent at his “retirement getaway” on Bear Creek.

 

Bill was a son of the late Dr. William N. and Annie Shields McDuffie.  He was preceded in death by brothers: Norman and Fred McDuffie; sister: Catherine McDonald.

 

Bill is survived by his wife of 55  years, Sue Davis McDuffie; daughter: Daltina Peele and husband Wade, of Sanford; son: Dr. William N. McDuffie, Jr. and wife, Lynne, of Robbins;  grandchildren: Ross Peele, Dalton Peele, River McDuffie and all his many friends from the store.

 

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Kennedy Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church 1595 North Moore Rd. Robbins, NC  27325 or the charity of your choice.

  10. Bill was wonderful to get to know. He was so helpful to me in my former handyman business. My heart is saddened for us all who were the beneficiaries of such a kind and giving man. Our prayers are for the good grace of God on all the family.

  13. Dear Sue, I just found out today about Bill passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was a great man that showed kindness to everyone he met. I remember his kindness with me and Scoot when our water pump knocked off on Thanksgiving Day a few years back.
