Willie A.  “Bill” Garner, 82,  passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Smyrna United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Reverend Edwin Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM in the Sanctuary and following the Committal, in the Smyrna Family Life Center.

Bill was a native of Moore County.  He was a graduate of Westmoore High School and retired from Builders First Choice after 46 years. He served his community as a Director for the Randolph Telephone Membership  Cooperative for 43 years. Bill loved the Lord and his family very much. He was active in his church as a member of the Choir and the United Methodist Men. Bill sang with his family for many years as a gospel quartet. He loved being outdoors, farming and vegetable gardening. Bill was a son of the late Oscar and Annie Williams Garner and was preceded in death by sisters: Beulah Williams, Marie Owens, Dorothy McNeill, Odessa Greene; brothers: Bud Garner, Cecil Garner, Henry Clay Garner.

Bill is survived by wife of 60 years Janelle; daughter: Robin Clark and husband Ricky; son: Rodney Garner and wife Cassandra; grandchildren: Allison and Erica Kennedy, Cole and Paige Garner; brother: Jimmie Garner; sister in law: Velna Garner  and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Health Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 or Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 203 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins, NC 27325
