Willie C. Vest, age 64, died Thursday (December 31, 2009) at his residence.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Browns Chapel Christian Church conducted by the Rev. Ralph VonCannon and the Rev. Edwin Moore. Burial will follow with military honors in the church cemetery. The following friends and family will serve as pallbearers; Ryan Linville, Bobby Howard, Kevin Kidwell, Fred Williams, Boyd Lambert and Brian Lyman.
A native of Moore County he was born to Kathleen Brown Vest and the late William C. Vest. He was a former Army Airborne Reservist and a past Master of the Elise Lodge 555 A.F & A.M in Robbins. He was a retired supervisor at Burlington Industries after 22 years of work and later worked for Advance Auto in Asheboro for 15 years. In addition he Owned Vest Auto Sales and was a poultry farmer. His latest work was Co-Owner of Southern Variety and Collectibles in Robbins. He was an active gun dealer and enjoyed traveling to area gun shows with his son Jason Vest and close friends David Cheek and Bobby Howard. He will also be remembered for his love of NASCAR.
He is survived by: his wife Dora Cox Vest; daughter Sharon Lambert and husband Dwayne of Robbins; sons Jason Vest and wife Sarah of Asheboro and Jeff Linville of Seagrove; mother Kathleen Brown Vest; sister Janice Dunn; brother Tracy Vest all of Robbins; grandchildren Ryan and Shawna Linville, Taylor, Macy and Jenna Lambert.
The family will receive friends at Kennedy Funeral Home in Robbins from 6:00 " 8:00 PM Saturday and other times at the residence.
